leading to her death
–An angry crowd reportedly caught the suspected
rapist and set him ablaze
Ekuigbo community of Ughelli-North Local
Government Area of Delta state was thrown into
frenzy on Wednesday, June 29, after a suspected
rapist was set ablaze. A crowd reportedly burnt the suspected rapist to death.
The suspect was reportedly among some hoodlums who attacked a 22-year-old sales girl where she sold fish feed and gang raped her to coma on Monday, June 27.
Daily Post reports that police spokesperson,
Celestina Kalu had confirmed the incident, saying
investigation into the case has begun.
Mr Celestine had said the victim was receiving
treatment at the Accident and Emergency (A&E)
unit of the Central Hospital.
However, all efforts to get through to the
spokesman on the new development as at press
time were abortive.
Sources however claim that the unnamed victim
had died and residents consequently apprehended
one of the suspects and burnt him to death while
onlookers gathered to behold the gory sight,
including men in police uniform.
